As far back as Bert Stratton can remember, it’s
always been about the song. The marriage between
the melody and the lyrics held him spellbound for
hours. His parents had quite an eclectic album
collection and Bert played every record he could get
his hands on. Each song was an incredible journey to
an unexplored place, and Bert never tired of going.
Starting piano lessons at 7, it quickly became evident that he was destined to be a writer. However adding notes to Mozart didn’t make points with his teachers. So after 5 years with 4 teachers he decided to teach himself. Playing and singing with piano and guitar he studied the rhymes and word structures as well as keys, modulations, and tempos. Bert was having fun, not knowing he was laying the foundation for a successful writing career.
Bert went to Ithaca college music school where he studied advanced music theory and sight singing. It was there he wrote his first true song.
Like most artists, Bert holds his work up to the great masters and it forces him to be relentless in his search for perfection. Bert’s first major breakthrough came when Pat Boone recorded Ready to Rock and made it a title cut on his newest album. Bert is also a writer member of ASCAP. His credits are numerous. He has been published with Shawnee Press and Lorenz Press and has written, recorded and produced 3 albums in the past 10 years, selling thousands of copies all over the world. Now, Bert sets his sights on Nashville. He recently moved there with his family to devote full time to his music. With the joy of a songwriting career finally being realized, he knows the possibilities are infinite.
